Miracles

seagull flyingHubby and I have had a few challenges this week, but rather than focus on those, I’d like to focus on the miracles that happen in our lives every day.

Millions of miracles happen every day, but we often take them all for granted:

The miracle of life, where so many systems work together to allow us to exist on this planet.  How often do we stop to think of all the processes which go on in our own bodies every day, just to keep us alive?

The miracle of flight.  Can you see a bird fly overhead and not wonder at the suspension of the laws of gravity which this sight appears to demonstrate, and which inspired human ingenuity to attempt to emulate it?

The miracle of love.  This amazing force dwells in each being on the planet, and is experienced by us in so many miraculous ways.

Sometimes, however, the challenges in our lives become the greatest demonstration of miracles.

One of the challenges we faced this week was that our beautiful dog, Cassie, required a trip to the vet on Sunday, suffering from a limp.  As is the case with any animal, diagnosis was difficult, but we were all in agreement that her pain was coming from the shoulder joint, perhaps caused by arthritis.  We had been giving her glucosamine for a while, but had recently changed brands, which could have been a factor.  Although she also had a cyst between the toes on that same leg, which she had been licking, we ruled that out as cause of the limp.  Whatever the cause, she had been letting us know of her distress.

That night I did an energy healing on Cassie.  I had learned about energy healing around 10 years ago now, and had used it a number of times when friends requested healing assistance, and on myself to maintain my excellent health.  I had no doubt that this amazing force could help to bring her body back into balance, so that her body could heal itself.

My faith in this healing method developed not long after learning of the healing technique.  Although I had read of miraculous healings, like a man who hopped in on crutches with a broken leg, and walked out completely cured, my source of faith was more personal.

I had witnessed the amazing effects of this healing energy in my own body, as it straightened my previously slightly curved spine, and eased the effects of viruses and my increasing sensitivity to chemicals in my diet.

Needless to say, Cassie’s limp has not been seen since the night of her healing, nor has she licked her previously sore foot.

Of course, my husband puts Cassie’s healing down to the anti-inflammatory tablets which we commenced that same evening, and the antiseptic and anaesthetic ointment we had been applying to her foot.

On Monday, I watched Doreen Virtue’s Weekly Oracle Card Reading which described the week that we could expect.  Already the first card held truth for me: a jolting change, a life experience which may seem harsh, but which would have positive long-term ramifications.

The second card predicted victory in the middle of the week, and this is precisely what happened.

The challenge we had faced in our business, which had greatly affected me and my husband emotionally, was overcome by the middle of the week.  The challenge, although stressful at the time, had created an outcome for our business which heralded a more positive situation in the future.

The card for this weekend predicts positive relationship changes.  I am so looking forward to this happening.  I think we are well on the way due to another miracle which occurred this morning.

My husband had been having difficulties with some software on his new computer which wasn’t working properly.  Last night he downloaded some updates which were supposed to fix the problem, but he found that, after hours of his attention, the problem still existed.

During my meditation and prayers this morning, I asked for his computer issues to be fixed.  I let him know about my request, and not long afterwards, when he tried it again everything seemed to right itself.

I told him “See!  It does work; you just have to believe.”

Although he thanked me, he couldn’t quite bring himself to thank the one to whom all thanks is due.

In the Bible we read of many miracles.  Jesus made the lame to walk, the blind to see, and the sick to heal.  He fed the multitudes with five loaves and two fishes, and he made the dead to rise again.

And yet he also tells us in John 14:12: “whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do.”   And in Matthew 17:20: “if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Faith is the key.  Yet faith the size of a mustard seed is all that is required.  With faith, all things are possible.

If, however you can start with faith the size of a mustard seed, after a time your faith will naturally increase.  As your mustard-seed-sized faith produces the results you desire, you soon find that, as your faith increases with these results, your faith is no longer required, as ‘the proof is in the pudding’.  Faith is no longer required, as the results of your faith will be obvious to all.

This is the example which Jesus set for us.

Jesus set us another example also: “Father, . . . ., not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42)

Every day during my prayers, I ask for God’s will to be done.  I know this makes me sound like I am a very righteous person, but it may surprise you to learn that my reasons are purely selfish.

I know that God, the Universe, Source, the Creator, whatever you like to call it, has greater knowledge than I.  God knows all of my desires even better than I know them myself.  God knows the best way to achieve the desires of every being on the planet, and if you allow her, she will do that.

The challenges which we faced early in the week may not have seemed like what I had desired, but I know that if I ask for God’s will to be done, that God’s will and my will become one.  I know that everything is happening in divine order, and that everything will work out for the best for all, which thus brings me my desires.

If I may quote the Bible once again: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)  There is a system in place to ensure that all of us each achieve our desires.  All of life holds miracles.

Belinda Carlisle’s song, Heaven Is A Place On Earth, reminds us that “we’re only just beginning to understand the miracle of living.”   If we can understand that we can create whatever we can conceive of, and we all desire world peace, if we each have faith the size of a mustard seed, then we can create this miracle as easily as we create all of the other wonderful miracles in our lives.
