Empathy – Living In A World Of Energy

By |2016-05-27T16:40:59+10:00September 14th, 2013|Empathy, Energy, We Are One|

Ever since Albert Einstein’s equation E=MC2 became famous, it has been easy for most people to accept the new age theory that everything is made of energy, including ourselves.  We know that, even though a rock appears as a solid lump, that it is really made up of a lot of rapidly-moving particles, and it is the energy of the particles which gives it its solid form.  We know that most of the rock is really empty space, and so are we.

Most people find it more difficult, however, to accept the new age theory that our energy extends out past our form.  Many people would have experienced the physical evidence of this theory, however, and our language confirms it.

Have you ever entered a meeting and immediately felt that there had been some discord prior to your arrival, even before you looked at the people?  “You could have cut the air with a knife.”  Could it be the energy that you are feeling?

Have you ever just met someone and felt “an instant connection” with that person?  Could it be that it was each of your energies which connected?

Have you ever been standing in a queue, and felt the person behind you was “invading your space”, such that you had to step forwards or sideways or anywhere further away.

When I made a conscious decision to develop my psychic abilities, I began by paying closer attention to everything in the physical world.  I noticed the sound of the wind in the trees, the smell of mown grass, the sight of ants as they crossed my path, the gentle touch of a fly on my skin, and the tastes and textures of all my food.  As I started to become more aware of every subtle interaction with my physical senses, the subtler differences in energy became more apparent.

I continued to become more sensitive to the energy in my environment, and more aware of its effect on me, but it was only after attending a past life regression seminar with 500 other people, that I understood what being empathic meant.  For me, it meant having strange emotions, for which I could not identify a source.  Sometimes I felt agitated, sometimes joyful; other times I would cry for no apparent reason.  My emotions were going up and down like a roller-coaster.  (Does this sound similar to what a manic-depressive person goes through?  Could it be that bipolar disorder is just a state of being extremely sensitive to the energy around us, and not knowing how to deal with it?)  It was only in hindsight that I realised that these were not my emotions that I was feeling, but other people’s.

I realised that we are all born empathic, but we learn to close ourselves off from these energies, especially if we live in crowded cities.  We put up a wall which stops other people’s energies coming in, but it also stops our loving energy from spreading out.  As I became more sensitive to the subtle energies, I had been breaking down my wall of protection.  I hadn’t yet learned of the many other methods which allow me to protect myself from becoming overwhelmed by others’ emotions, whilst still allowing energy connection between us.  This is still a work in progress.

However, being empathic is not a bad thing.  It is this ability which leads me to selfishly desire a world where every person on the planet is joyful.  Although this seems altruistic, I know that, as an empathic person, if everyone else on the planet is joyful, then I, too, will feel this joy.

If we can all open up to feel others’ energies, could it lead to a world where everyone lives together in peace, joy, and love?

Have you experienced the examples I described earlier?

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by emotions other than your own?

Do you have ways of coping with being empathic, which you would like to share?

Luckily, when I returned home from the seminar, someone recommended this website, and I am happy to share it with you: http://www.eliselebeau.com/empaths/empath-survival-program

Sending you lots of loving, joyful energy.

Love
Lorelle

I certainly could relate to your experiences when only recently I had been at a shopping centre for 2 hours, then sat in the car to drive home and could barely muster the energy to do that. I gave into the feeling by crying and then felt better. Obviously I had to release whatever I had picked up. Since that experience I am very willing to try Technique No 2, the second suggestion, from the very helpful website you posted, Lorelle.

I also have just started a 21 Day Mantra Meditation Journey by Deva Premal and Miten. One of the Mantras I have learnt is for protection against negativity. It is Narasimba Dava Dasohum. I can see myself chanting this all the way to the shops! Miten also says “Protection is only needed if you are in separation. All is One”.

Jennifer, I found the turning down the volume one handy, particularly when you are not sure whether it is yours or someone else’s energy causing the distress. It helps to identify who it belongs to. I have recently found a similar method to the expansion one works well when you are going into crowds. It’s like you are pushing any negativity away with the force of your positivity. Would be interested to hear more about your 21 day thing.
