Isn’t It Hard Being Vegan?

I wasn’t always vegan.  I know all of the excuses for not being vegan, because I used most of them myself:  “We were designed to eat meat.  I need meat, dairy and eggs to get my protein.  I need milk to get my calcium.  It’s too hard to find anything vegan to eat.  One person can’t make a difference.” When I let go of these excuses, I discovered the evidence

My Sweet Pain in the Arse

I got the urge to write, so I thought if I sat down to write, something might come to me. In fact, the thoughts that come to me are, as have been the case of many of my thoughts over the last couple of months – thoughts of Cassie, my sweet baby dog.  The card reading for today of Emotional Healing included a suggestion to write to expel some emotional

Appreciation

We are having a small amount of concrete laid today between our already asphalted driveway and our new shed.  I was watching the concrete being poured and remarking how wonderful it is that they can take a sloppy, lumpy mess and turn it into a smooth flat surface for driving on. This got me to thinking about a couple of things.  One was how we all have something that we

Cassie

Cassie When I sat down to write this week’s blog, I realised that I would have trouble talking about anything other than what my focus has been all week – our dog, Cassie. This is not my usual sort of blog, so I won’t be offended if no one reads this one.  (Not that I’m offended when you don’t read the others.) It was Thursday, one week earlier,

Abandon None!

In this week’s blog, I wanted to talk about the quote from last Saturday which appeared in Wayne Dyer’s perpetual calendar Change Your Thoughts – Change Your Life, which provides daily quotes from the Tao Te Ching. The quote that day read: Be wise and help all beings impartially, abandoning none. This is talking about the fact that we are all one, and that no being has a greater value

Australia Day

I’m not sure what to celebrate about being Australian.  I know there are a lot of things we can be grateful for. One is that we are girt by sea.  As well as providing miles of beautiful beaches, it keeps any potential enemies at a disadvantage. Yet more and more people are becoming concerned, not that we are vulnerable from outside attack, but that we are vulnerable from attack from

Happy Inauguration Day!

I started feeling funny a couple of hours ago.  I felt like a blanket of negativity was draped over my shoulders and over my head.  I did a wonderful chakra-clearing meditation, and yet the feeling returned.  It was a mild anxiety that felt like it was threatening to explode into a full-blown panic attack. I tried to understand where this feeling had come from.  I hadn’t seen anything on Facebook

Animals Are Worth It

Cassie We had to take our dog, Cassie, to the vet today.  (She’s ok, just has a bit of a cough.)  But this started me thinking about how important animals are to us on this planet. Last week I wrote about the importance of trees, but have you ever stopped to think how important the animals are to this planet? The importance of each species to an ecosystem

Freedom

This week I signed a petition, which called on the Prime Minister and the company who owned him, to free a steer which had escaped when being loaded onto a ship for live export.  This poor beast had swum and walked for kilometres in order to escape the fate which his owners had in mind for him, only to be caught and to die at the hands of the humans
